 | Protect Yourself!

|
In this week's Torah Portion, Bo, G-d commands the Jewish people to place lamb's blood on the doorposts and lintels of their homes. This sign protected them from the Plague of the First Born. Similarly, a kosher Mezuzah on each of our doorposts serves as a sign that protects us today.
- The Mezuzah contains Torah passages that command us to love G?d and to follow His ways. The letters on the back of a Mezuzah spell one of G?d's holy names. They also stand for the Hebrew words: " Guardian of the Doorposts of Israel."
- The Mezuzah must be hand?written on parchment, like a Torah scroll. A mistake in one letter disqualifies the entire Mezuzah! Therefore, a qualified scribe should check your Mezuzos at least twice in seven years.
- We put the Mezuzah on the right side of the door, slanting inward.

- What is the difference between a mezuzah and an insurance policy?
|
- An insurance policy helps you after something happens. A Mezuzah helps you before!
